An absolutely incredible artist I met the other day said this: “I’m always debating whether to pursue my creativity or to be on the front lines.”
I replied, “Art is the front line.”
The world is a lot right now. A shit show, if I may.
And so many of us feel like we NEED TO DO SOMETHING!
Let me tell you this, making art is doing something.
Making art is taking action against the bullshit of this world
Making art is the revolution.
Making art is the front line.
Why?
Because taking up space and using your voice is political and powerful.
Because art impacts our society, it changes it, it forms it. We are made by the art we consume. You change the world when you share your art.
Because the act of creation is revolutionary adn rebellious against a world that wants you on your phone, passive and obedient.
Because the act of creation is revolutionary in a world the idiolizes productivity for the sake of profit. Being leisurely is rebellion.
Because art allows us to share ideas, our beliefs.
Because art brings us together in a world trying to break us apart.
Because making art is an act of resistance against silence, against erasure.
Because art reminds us of our humanity in a system that tries to turn us into machines.
Because art builds bridges between people, between generations, between cultures.
Because storytelling—through words, images, sound—is how we make sense of the chaos.
Because the personal is political, and art makes the personal visible.
Because art allows us to dream of a better world, and dreaming is the first step to building it.
Because creativity is a rebellion against cynicism, against hopelessness.
Because your art can reach someone you will never meet, in a time you will never see, and change them.
They will try and convince you that art is for peace times, times when the world is easy, when there is nothing else to do. They are wrong.
Art is for a hurting world. Art is for now.

YESSS I have been thinking about this all the time lately. How people are like “this is our moment to start a revolution” and all I feel called toward is starting my podcast. And I think that’s exactly right! Because BEING the new thing we want to see is the way to create a revolution.
Thank u Amie xo
