Artist, welcome
This is a home for artists and anyone who wants to centre creativity in their lives.
Who am I?
I’m a writer and podcaster who has been championing the arts for the past decade. I spent 6 years battling to write my first novel. No one was interested in it.
I alchemised the pain of that rejection and decided to share my journey with other artists.
Since then I’ve self-published 4 non-fiction, and 2 fiction books.
This year my debut traditional non-fiction book, We Need Your Art, Stop F***cking Around and Make Something, enters the world. It’s a love letter for artists, creators, and rebels. I also have something very exciting brewing in the fiction world… more soon!
Some of my heroes have said some very lovely things about We Need Your Art which has been both incredible and terrifying:
“A manifesto for anyone who wants to make art of any kind. A book against insecurity and the self-doubt that can stop us doing the thing we love. An empowering read and a battle cry for the creative spirit. A joy.”
—Matt Haig, New York Times bestselling author of The Midnight Library and The Life Impossible
"This book is desperately needed medicine for our hearts, our lives, and our culture. I will read it over and over until its many truths sink into every one of my cells. If you have ever felt the slightest impulse to create anything, I urge you to do the same. Well researched, beautifully written, and powerfully healing, WE NEED YOUR ART is not only a great read, but a manifesto for our personal and collective freedom. Thank you, Amie McNee!" —Martha Beck, PhD, author of Beyond Anxiety
Where else can you find me?
I post my love notes for artists to Instagram almost every day. You might have seen me there as @inspiredtowrite!
You can also find videos of many of my articles on Youtube.
And if you’re interested in my cozy historical fiction novels, you can find the homepage for that on my website! P.s. I read my own audiobooks and it’s my favourite thing.
How often will I pester you?
I send out about one article a week. I’ll very occasionally let you know about a book or class I have coming up.
The Best People on the Internet
If you are an artist with a huge heart for other artists, who wants a friendly, accepting community, you will find those people in the comments of my articles.
I’ve been so lucky to foster such a kind, nurturing community and I want you to be a part of it.
