Your art is out there living its best life, completely unsupervised, probably making profound existential shifts in someone’s soul while you’re just here wondering if you should post another reminder about it. Wild.
This hit deep because it’s so true: our creations have a whole underground operation going on, changing lives without ever reporting back. Like little rogue agents of transformation. And the kicker? We will never fully know the scale of it.
That filmmaker moment? That’s proof of the invisible threads we weave. You weren’t hustling in his inbox, you weren’t tracking engagement, and yet, BOOM, your work rewired his reality.
Obsessed with this post! Just released a book and this time I decided to let it all go. No checking reviews, ranks, algorithms etc. what came to me was what was meant for me to see. Both writing and publishing a book has layers of magic - I believe in my work and that is enough. So excited about your release!!
This made me cry. Thank you for this reminder. I’m about to release my first album and I’m terrified and also so exited. Thank you for reminding me that there is so much good that spreads from our art that we’ll never even know about!
My GOODNESS I needed to read this today. That story is stunning, as is the plane movie anecdote. You're so right -- it's almost laughable that we think we can know otherwise. Thank you for lifting the veil (and the many veils you continue to lift for us). YOU ARE ART.
I need this right now. I was moving along perfectly fine but it’s time to move into another community. I’m marking my calendar … is there a limit on people you accept because I don’t know what I’ll do if I can’t get in! 😉🥰✨🦋🙌
This is so profoundly true, and yet it's something rarely mentioned and certainly not something I often think about. It reminds me of the moment I first realised this, though. I was visiting the Niaux Caves in France to see the Palaeolithic cave paintings. They were incredible: this art reached out to me over 14,000 years and I thought about who had made those paintings, and how they could never have known how long their work would survive and how it might touch someone so many millenia after them. But they crawled into that cave and made those images anyway. Mind-blowing, huh?! You never know, what the art you make will do without you...
each word is balm for my soul. thank you so much! ♥️ Your book is ore-ordered & will drop into my hands tomorrow - the perks of "day-time" jobbing at a book store :)
You've always inspired me, Amie! Just like how your book and creations speak to my soul. I love how you just reminded me of the impact the world has on our art. I've had people tell me how beautiful and profound it was to see my art, and they ask me to notify them with every new blog post because they find them so resonant and joyful. I shout out my stuff to the world, but they never subscribe. Yet, when I send them my shares, they read them and tell me how certain sentences resonate with their life. Yet, they don’t subscribe or follow.
But I’m happy. Happy that I get to pick people up from zero and cheer them with my words. <3
You just reminded me of how my art/stories change the weather in someone else’s sky!!
Naked feeling and so true. Where and who we affect someone is mostly a mystery; but when a person shares the impact you and your art has had on them, the impact it has on YOU is profound.
This is such a needed and good reminder. I often put my heart out there and get crickets back, but it’s still worth doing. Even just recently my sister told me something a mutual friend said about my substack, and I was completely unaware the person had ever read it. Who knows where else it has traveled or will travel in the future. Thank you for this <3
I so enjoyed this lovely post! So true, so deep, so well thought out and written. Thank you so much for sharing this. I love the visuals you create, thank you for the boost! Have an awesome day Amie!

This post? A masterclass in creative faith!

This is so encouraging!! Thanks for the reminder to make art and put it out there :)
“Success isn’t always something we can measure”
This part!!!!
In a world where everyone wants to measure every ounce of data and analytics online for everything, this is so god damn refreshing.
Beautiful! I’m sorry to miss your Brooklyn event. I’m flying to London tomorrow for concerts- hope to buy your book there.
