Hey Amie, I listened to the voice recording of this post instead of reading it, just to change it up. I love your voice. I love your passion. I love you always have my back as an artist. Thank you, thank you!! ✨
Hey Amie.. Thank you for the voice narration of the article. It’s the first Substack I heard while reading it , and from now on will be looking forward to that option wherever I can get it. And thanks for the beautiful words that acted like a balm for the soul of a ‘flop film maker’. 🥹
Thank you for this! And mostly thank you for recording your own audio: it means a lot. As a NeuroSpicy I prefer listening 🎧 than reading, but the surnames. automated voice from substack is a little cold and impersonal. 🙏🏼
Absolutely. I read, then listened to your recording. Your enthusiasm resonates in your voice, Amie. This post is exactly what I needed to read/hear today. Thank you!
Thank you for this celebration of art and creativity.I needed it.
I'm so tired of my perfectionism on one hand and of people chime in of "you'll get better with practice" on the other. I just want to create because when I don't, I die a little inside. I don't think anybody should be at the receiving end of a "you'll get better at breathing if you keep doing it". It's irrelevant. I'm doing it because I must.
And, sure, if I practice, I could have deeper and more efficient breathing, but since I don't plan on it being a career, I'll just remind myself that I don't have to hold my breath because its imperfect. Neither should I put my brushes aside : their doing their job of keeping me alive just as is.
I should print this out and hang it on the wall... I have too many thoughts about my art, when I even dare call it that, being pointless. Even when I find it beautiful or sell it.
omg. The “stares at you aggressively” button. So good - felt that in my soul. Art on!

“Silence is so often mistranslated.” One of the great many quotes in this.
Stares at you aggressively - you always make me laugh Amie xx
Flabbergastingly gobsmackingly fantabulous vociferous bang-on deliciousness. 🔥🔥🔥
I laughed out loud! Your message loud and true and came to me right at the right time, as I begin sharing my art more publicly. Thank you!
Absofrickenlutely!

This is gold. Thank you for these reminders!
